What is the SAT?
The Scholastic Assessment Test — known worldwide as the SAT — is a standardised undergraduate admissions exam conducted by the College Board. It is primarily taken by students in Class 11 and Class 12 who are planning to apply to universities abroad, particularly in the USA, Canada, the UK, and Australia.
The SAT does not test advanced academic knowledge — it measures how prepared a student is for higher education through reading comprehension, writing clarity, and mathematical reasoning. A strong SAT score is both a key admission factor at competitive US universities and a gateway to significant merit-based scholarships.

Since 2024, the SAT has moved entirely to a digital, computer-adaptive format. If you've seen older materials referencing a paper-based, three-hour exam — that format no longer exists. Study List's prep course is fully aligned to the current Digital SAT.

How the Digital SAT is Structured
The Digital SAT has two sections, each split into two adaptive modules.
Reading & Writing
Short academic passages, each paired with a single question. Tests reading comprehension, inference, grammar, punctuation, and clarity of expression across a wide range of academic subjects and real-world contexts.
Math
Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, problem-solving, and data analysis at high school level. A built-in Desmos calculator is available for every question, and you can bring an approved handheld calculator as well.
How adaptive scoring works: your performance in the first module of each section determines the difficulty of the second. Doing well in Module 1 routes you to harder questions in Module 2 — which is also what unlocks access to the highest score ranges.
What Score Should You Be Aiming For?

Many top US universities practice superscoring — combining your best section scores across multiple attempts. A second or third attempt focused on improving just one section can meaningfully lift your overall score.
